If you're thinking about exploring international markets then Soft Landing Zones (SLZ) is definitely well worth considering.

SLZ is a programme is designed to enable businesses to explore foreign markets whilst benefiting from “hands-on” support. The programme targets knowledge-based companies with an interest in R&D, partnerships, joint ventures or market research.

Where?
SLZ has dedicated office space on Science and Innovation Parks across 15 worldwide locations. These include: China & Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa, The Middle East, Malta, The Isle of Man & Australia.

Support package
Support is tailored to meet your needs so typically a company might be offered a combination of simple desk space, advice on developing your business interests, introductions to local contacts, language translation, market research & recruitment services. And because the network is supported by UK Trade & Investment, staff will ensure that you are also introduced to local representatives from the British Embassy or High Commission. In addition, a travel grant in the region of £500 is available to eligible companies making their first overseas visit.

What does it cost?
SLZ is currently run as a pilot programme in the East Midlands. Membership is normally £250 but, for the companies that successfully apply through EMIN, membership will be free.
